Alternative DNS system based on P2P

Author: admin  //  Category: DNS, Tech News

According to Tech Watch the current state of the DNS (Domain Name System) system, the team behind The Pirate Bay have thrown down the gauntlet and announced plans for the creation of an alternative DNS system that is based on P2P (peer-to-peer) technology. In a terse statement posted on Baywords, the group wrote “The background for this project is that we want the Internet to be uncensored! Having a centralized system that controls our information flow is not acceptable.”

The existing DNS system works like a large distributed database, with the IP address obtained via a referral system demarcated by countries and/or types of domain. For example, domain names ending in .com, .org and .edu are controlled by known single organizations tasked with maintaining their portion of the database.

The creation of a P2P DNS that doesn’t make use of a centralize server is far from a trivial task, and it remains to be seen how The Pirate Bay will approach this challenge. One main problem is the inability to specify the service in the BitTorrent protocol, as well as the complete elimination of all centralized points. Finally, the resultant system will need to be sufficiently robust against hijacking or redirecting attempts by hackers.

Number of outgoing links

Author: admin  //  Category: seo Tools

I’m usually using SeoQuake toolbar to check number of outgoing links on the site.
But last time I put attention results of this checking are wrong.
I’ve found alternative tool to check number of outbound links

http://linkcounter.submitexpress.com/

You should enter captcha but most important the results are truthful.
Results are in the two tables – first table includes internal links of the site, second table includes outbound links – anchors and url’s.

Scrapebox – tools for comments

Author: admin  //  Category: Seo Advice

I’ve found interested tool that can send comments automatically using proxy servers scrapebox.com
But I’m still not sure if it will not bring some problems for my sites.
For good work of this tool we should have big number of proxy servers.
Also we need to collect a big amount of targeted keywords.
What is really good is quality of the comments – there are well written, different, posted from different IPs.
Here you can read quality user experience review about using Scrapebox.

Buried in the Google Sandbox

Author: admin  //  Category: Google, Seo Advice

We love Google, you love Google, everybody loves Google! But sometimes we all tear our hair out at the very mention of the Google Sandbox! 60% of web users go with Google as their search engine of choice. Statistics like that could mark Google’s justification for implementing the intricate filters of the Sandbox system.
SEO and Web analytics experts are divided on the effectiveness of the Google Sandbox – some say it merely makes life unnecessarily hard for new businesses (try 6 months in the sandbox!), whilst others extol its virtues as a solution to transitory websites.

Alternate SEO Tools
The best advice is to be to PLAN! Planning an initial online marketing strategy with SEO services like www.searchengineoptimisation.com that accounts for potential burial in the Google Sandbox needn’t have you draining the budget on expensive ads.

PPC
Keeping up the profile of your brand throughout the Google Sandbox drama is crucial. PPC ads offer a cost-effective alternative when combined with a great website (DON’T invest in PPC simply to have your potential customers clicking through to an “Under Construction” website!)

Outline Websites
Submitting an outline website can work in your favour – make the site at least two pages in total, include RSS or relevant email collection facilities, a few links, and try to avoid the old “Under Construction” banner, instead inserting copy e.g. brand message, company bio, perhaps a little humour?

Social Media
With the right visibility settings, your social media pages will make rankings, but only if users search for you by name.

Dealing with problem comments and bad reviews

Author: admin  //  Category: Seo Advice

Organic search engine optimisation is all about reputation management. How well you do in Google’s search rankings for your chosen keywords is important, but without the goodwill of a sizable pool of customers and potential customers, no website can do well. One customer who searches for ‘SEO services’ or one of our other target phrases and ends up on www.seoconsult.co.uk is good. If they actually do buy SEO services from us that’s great. If they buy services and then tell six of their friends that they’ve found a quality company and we end up with six more clients, that’s fantastic.

Every website should think the same way. In the highly competitive online retail market, recommendations are pure gold and they are far more of a resource than in the offline marketing world. If a person wants to find a mechanic, they might ask a couple of friends who live in the same area for their recommendations. If the same individual wants to find the best place to buy bathroom fittings online, they’ll probably post a question to a DIY forum used by thousands of people.

So, having a positive reputation is an essential part of search engine optimisation. But sometimes things can go wrong. Let’s say your bathroom supplies company accidentally sends out the wrong set of tap fittings and an irritated customer posts a bad review of your website. A recommendation can be read by thousands of potential customers but so can a negative comment.

Don’t panic. We all make mistakes sometimes and you can still turn the situation to your advantage. Post a reply to the angry customer offering a sincere apology and maybe free postage off their next order. Get the right tap fittings sent out ASAP and make sure everything you do to make up for the error is shown in the comment thread. Try and get the original poster to revise their opinion of your service. Another good trick is to have testimonials from satisfied clients already up on your website, so you can link to it and demonstrate that the majority of customers are pleased by your service.

Seo Tips 2010

Author: admin  //  Category: SEO education

1.Canonical Issues – check canonical issues to make sure there is a preferred default page or domain preference (http:// or www).

2.Indexation and Crawl Frequency – See how many pages are crawled in a site to determine crawl frequency.

3.Orphaned Pages and Dead Ends – check for orphaned pages to determine if pages are linked sufficiently to ensure crawling.

4.Dynamic URL’s – If pages are dynamically created, try to remove or rewrite as many parameters in the URL as possible or use URL / Mod rewrite.

5.Naming Conventions – Use proper naming conventions (subject or keyword first, then plural variation, modifier, then tag line).

6.Manage Outbound Links – Try to cap outbound links per page to fewer than 50 links for larger pages (10 for top level pages that need more ranking factor).

7.Footer / Site wide Links – Use footer links sparingly by tactfully to tie site segments together.

8.Broken Links – Check for broken links which could be hemorrhaging link flow and weakening a site from within.

9.Alt Attributes in Images – Use alt attributes on images to preserve content integrity while providing internal links for ranking factor.

10.Anchor Text Optimization – Use pertinent anchor text and do not waste link equity from excessively linking to non reciprocating pages within a site.

11.Flattening Site Architecture – Keep site architecture as flat as possible or use breadcrumbs to aid in information architecture and crawling.

12.Content Volume – Ensure you have enough content to topple a competitive keyword.

13.Contextual Links – Link contextually within related document to select preferred landing pages through virtual theming.

14.Meta Tags – For larger sites, exclude meta descriptions but for smaller sites, use the meta data as an extra title or place for alternative keywords.

15.Deep Links – Get at least 5-10 inbound links to each page via deep links from other sites in order to create buoyancy.

16.Keyword Stemming – Link to a page with multiple anchors (to create keyword stemming) and with “exact match” keywords to elevate just that term.

17.RSS Feed Syndication – Set up multiple RSS feeds within a site to syndicate your content to attract natural backlinks from other sites.

18.Trust Rank – Linking from aged pages can pass along trust to new landing pages or sub folders or sub domains. Don’t look past your own site for ranking factor.

19.Sitemaps – Use sitemaps to not only tie the site together, but also as a way to nourish pages like an irrigation system through linking to them.

20.Sub Domains – Despite abuse in the past, sub domains still work.
